Research Focus: Neural Progenitor cell heterogeneity in response to minor spliceosome inactivation

I am focused on understanding the effects of inactivation of the minor spliceosome in various neural progenitor cells. Including those of the dorsal telencephalon (gives rise to the excitatory neurons of the cortex), the ventral diencephalon (gives rise to the hypothalamus), the medial ganglionic eminence (gives rise to inhibitory neurons of the cortex), and the retina.

Research Interests: My research interests are in the following areas: the regulation of gene expression via minor intron splicing in synaptic plasticity in the cerebellar cortex, identification of minor intron-containing genes and minor intron splicing factors that drive alternative splicing and minor intron retention, and identification of minor intron splicing mediated gene expression in various biological models.
